WEBINAR ON “STEERING TOWARDS A MORE ROSHAN PAKISTAN”
Habib Metro Bank organized a Webinar today titled ‘Steering towards a more Roshan Pakistan”, to introduce key features of Roshan Digital Account and respond to different queries of the participants.
Syed Raza Baqir, Governor State Bank of Pakistan, H.E. Afzaal Mahmood, Ambassador of Pakistan to UAE, Mohsin Ali Nathani, President & CEO, Habib Metro Bank, Dr. Murtaza Syed, Deputy Governor, State Bank of Pakistan, Farrukh Khan, Managing Director and CEO, Pakistan Stock Exchange, Badiuddin Akbar, CEO, CDC, Pakistan, Maheen Rehman, Chief Executive, Infra Zamin, Tahir Malik, Head of Africa, Middle East & Asia, Reckitt Benckiser participated in the Seminar.
In the introduction, Mohsin Ali Nathani, President & CEO, Habib Metro Bank mentioned that over 25% of RDAs and 35% of flows are from UAE making UAE one of the top locations for Roshan Digital Accounts.
H.E.Afzaal Mahmood in his remarks appreciated the initiative of Roshan Digital Account and said that UAE is home to 1.6 million Pakistanis. It is heartening to know that they have taken the lead in opening Roshan Digital accounts. It is a win win situation for both, Pakistan and Pakistani community abroad. Roshan Digital Account connects the community to Pakistani Banking and they are able to send remittances from the comfort of their homes.
Talking about the success of Roshan Digital Account, Dr. Murtaza Syed, Deputy Governor, State Bank of Pakistan said that RDA was launched in September 2020 with 8 Banks. So far 113,000 accounts have been opened from over 100 countries. Almost 600-700 accounts are being opened on daily basis. Daily remittances from these accounts are $6-7 million and around $ 800 million have come through these accounts so far.
Other speakers also appreciated the initiative and briefed about key features of Roshan Digital Accounts. The Webinar ended with question and answers sessions from the participants.
