Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Saudi capital, Riyadh, Ahmed Farooq, while providing information to journalists regarding the Hajj, said that the Saudi government has decided to take strict legal measures in connection with the Hajj 2025 this year, and strict and heavy punishments will be given in case of any violation.

He said that Saudi authorities have informed the Pakistani embassy that last year, about 11,000 Pakistani citizens stayed in Mecca despite their Hajj visas expiring, which is a serious violation of Saudi laws. Ambassador Ahmed Farooq clarified that performing Hajj without a permit, or for people on visit visas to participate in Hajj without permission, is completely prohibited.

The Saudi government has imposed penalties for such violations ranging from a minimum of 10,000 riyals to 100,000 riyals, imprisonment, deportation, and a ban on future entry. In addition, new technology-equipped bands are being provided for pilgrims from Pakistan this year, which will have all the necessary information, including the ability to detect location.

The Pakistani ambassador appealed to the Pakistani people to fully abide by Saudi laws and perform the sacred duty of Hajj within the framework of discipline and law. He said that the embassy is always there to serve and guide Pakistani pilgrims, but in case of violation of the law, the embassy’s powers are limited.

Ambassador Ahmed Farooq expressed his determination that all possible support will be provided to the Pakistani community living in Saudi Arabia, but compliance with the law is the primary responsibility of every individual so that Pakistan’s prestige remains high and Pakistani pilgrims do not face any difficulties in the future.
