Colorful Eid: Dubai GDRFA Organizes Mega Eid Celebration for Workers

Dubai: The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA Dubai) organized a mega Eid celebration for workers from various sectors who are an integral part of the Emirate’s success story. The celebration included prizes worth approximately AED 500,000, such as cars, gold bars, return flight tickets, and AED 500 vouchers. Over 42,000 people participated in the two-day event, which also featured Bollywood stars.

The event took place in the Al Quoz area of Dubai under the theme “Let’s Celebrate Eid Together.” Senior officials, including Major General Obaid Muhair Bin Suroor, Assistant Director General of GDRFA Dubai, and Colonel Omar Matar Khamees Matar Al Mezaina, Assistant Director General for Labor Relations, attended the celebration.

Workers from diverse countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Nepal participated in the Eid festivities. The event, which included music and dance performances, abundant gifts, and cultural presentations, served as a platform to highlight the UAE’s care and cooperation towards its expatriate workforce.

Major General Obaid Muhair Bin Suroor stated that the event was organized to honor the labor community, who contribute significantly to Dubai’s growth and development. Colonel Omar Matar Khamees Matar Al Mezaina
added that the celebration is a way to express their commitment to the values of gratitude and inclusivity, and it provides an opportunity for workers to celebrate Eid and share camaraderie.

Numerous government entities in Dubai, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Dubai Police, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, and Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, contributed to the success of the event. Additionally, humanitarian organizations such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, Dubai Charity Association, Beit Al Khair Society, Mai Dubai, We One, and the Nabadat Al Emarat Volunteer Team provided support. The Directorate also organized Eid prayers for the workers on the morning of Eid al-Adha.
